We’re getting excited about this year’s Solar Decathlon and love Virginia Tech’s zero-energy, smart house. Lumenhaus — which is a combination of Lumen, meaning power of light, and Haus, which is a reference to the Bauhaus architectural movement — is a high-tech home that will be sure to garner a lot of attention at the upcoming competition. I own 3 Southern Exposure lots in Yorktown, VA and would like to learn more about building a home like this on these lots for resale. Are you aware of any government lending programs for building these type of residences? Any contact/referral assistance to get this program started here and provided some much needed local jobs in the building/housing industry in VA.
    Thank You.

When building a home with solar power, we don’t have to worry about building near power lines or available grids. Solar energy helps keep our environment beautiful in many ways. Solar power for homes…is it worthwhile? Yes!
