COOLS Kit is not a new piece of crazy-shaped furniture or recycled cardboard household object – it’s an amazing set of hand-tools with connectors meant for building just about anything you can imagine! On show at this year’s This Way exhibition at the Milan Furniture Fair, this amazing idea comes from Coen Danckmer Voordouw of Studio Danckmer, a recent graduate of Design Academy of Eindhoven.
So how cool is COOLS? COOLS stands for Cardboard-Tools and encourages kids and grown-ups into designing themselves and thinking outside the box. This amazing Dutch design helps individuals build just anything from simple cardboard, from little stools to sliding airplanes to even an elaborate puppet theatre. Each COOLS set also comes with a handy COOLS-book featuring step-by-step illustrations on how to cut out cardboard figures and connect them for safe and sound structures.
COOLS has the potential to help children develop two and three-dimensional insight, while providing tangible results that build their confidence as they play. Individuals are also encouraged to share their creations with the world by uploading them onto the COOLS website – which funnily enough, it is now under construction.
