If sustainable design is about designing to enhance our relationship with nature, then Martín Azúa‘s designs are the perfect example of this principle in action. The Spanish designer created ‘La Vida en los Objetos’ (Life within Objects), a collection of furniture that allows people to interact with animals and plants, and watch them grow. Functional, sustainable, and very cute, these comfy armchairs will hold your favourite fresh herbs while also providing your turtle, rabbit or mouse with a place to hide and rest.

‘Life within Objects’ is Azúa’s most recent design, but is in fact an adaptation of his 2008 ‘Sillón Om’ — a recyclable polyethylene seat made with the rotomolding technique. Designed for Mobles 114, a Barcelona-based furniture firm, these chairs could be used indoors and also outdoors. And for use indoors, you can be purchase a biodegradable felt cover in an array of colors to keep with your current decor.

‘Life within Objects’ is a design that makes us think and opens a path for nature to be part of our everyday life.
