The Stables (1)The Richmond Fire Station Horse Stables in <a href="http://inhabitat.com/zen-green-house/">Melbourne</a>, Australia have been transformed into a striking modern dwelling dubbed <a href="http://www.realestate.com.au/property-house-vic-richmond-106869858">The Stable</a> in a remarkable example of <a href="http://inhabitat.com/sydney-transforms-waterworks-ruins-into-incredible-public-park/">adaptive reuse</a>. The red brick single-story building has been preserved as the core of an entirely new architectural experience - within its walls a three-story angular home rises up to capture daylight and views while providing a contemporary 3 bedroom retreat near downtown.1
