MiapolisA new 975 meter high <a href="http://www.archicentral.com/975-meter-high-tower-planned-for-miami-25966/">super tower planned for Miami</a> could potentially beat out <a href="http://www.inhabitat.com/2010/03/01/the-oasis-tower-a-helical-vertical-farm-for-dubai/">Dubai</a>’s <a href="http://www.inhabitat.com/2010/01/04/burj-dubai-opens/">Burj Khalifa</a> as the world's tallest building if built. Designed by <a href="http://www.kobikarp.com/">KOBI KARP</a>, <a href="http://www.miapoliscity.com/">Miapolis</a> would be more than just be a building - it would be a “city within a city.” With plans to utilize the most cutting-edge sustainable systems and practices drafted into the design, this dizzying arcology would be the largest <a href="http://www.inhabitat.com/index.php?s=leed+certification">LEED-certified</a> structure at any rating level in the United States.1
MiapolisDesigned to be built on Watson Island, Miapolis would measure about 183 meters higher than the <a href="http://www.inhabitat.com/2010/01/04/burj-dubai-opens/">Burj Khalifa</a>.2
MiapolisThe staggering 160-floor <a href="http://www.inhabitat.com/2010/03/01/the-oasis-tower-a-helical-vertical-farm-for-dubai/">eco-city</a> would contain a bevy of entertainment and residential spaces within including an amusement park, observatory, restaurants, approximately 2 million sq ft of shops, more than 1000 apartments, 1 million sq ft of office space and a 792 room hotel.3
MiapolisIn addition to LEED certification, Miapolis' eco-factors include the use of 60% <a href="http://www.inhabitat.com/energy-wind">wind energy</a>, a modular <a href="http://www.inhabitat.com/index.php?s=green+roof">green roof</a>, greenhouse gas management, and <a href="http://www.inhabitat.com/water/">water</a> desalinization.4
MiapolisOther green features would include storm and wastewater management, solid waste management, electric trolleys, carbon emissions offsets, and carbon sequestration.5
MiapolisThe city also hopes that the new development will revitalize downtown Miami and create 46,000 construction and 35,000 permanent jobs for locals.6
