Gallery: Mike Bouchet Turns Shopping Carts Into Cool Lounge Chairs


Shopping carts are rarely offered a second life after being spent transporting our groceries, but Frankfurt-based designer Mike Bouchet saw the hidden potential of the common cart. By cutting the basket open and removing the sides, the American-born designer managed to turn this common grocery store fixture into a chair dedicated to leisure. Slated for an unveiling by Nathalie Karg and Cumulus Studios at Design Miami 2011, Bouchet’s recycled chaise-carts can be wheeled just about anywhere.
