Gallery: Mind-Bending UV Art Installat...

holdUP Architecture's marriage of an upcycled shipping container and cool, sustainable art has given our Friday such a great start!

When users enter the shipping container, which resembles a chalked-up blackboard on the outside, they are greeted with pitch darkness. As they start to stumble through the temporary room, the UV light inside begins to respond, but it is not until the would-be artists finally reach the canvas table and start drawing with a UV pen that the light inside really starts to fire up.

Even then it is a subdued light designed to mimic the experience of working in a cave – like our ancient forebears who first translated their experiences and emotions to art. In addition to being a very exciting project, this low-energy art installation was realized using very few materials, giving it just the sustainable edge that we are always looking for!
