Gallery: Nacho Carbonell’s Quirk...

We all know that avoiding information overload is pretty difficult these days, but here are some interesting (to say the least) designs that will help you regain your sense of self. Handmade by Design Academy Eindhoven‘s graduate Nacho Carbonell, Evolution Collection is a series of furniture pieces that provide places to find peace with yourself or with others. Made from chicken wire and recycled paper, these bench-cocoons offer a calm retreat from everyday life.

To make his quirky designs, Nacho Carbonell first separates the recycled paper by colors and then creates the paste, also recycling the ink. Once the paste is ready it is applied over an iron frame covered with chicken wire that gives the curious objects a unique, textured, and more humane, surface.

The Evolution Collection consists of three furniture pieces: “One Man Chair” which incites personal thinking; “The Bench” with an attached cocoon as a place to escape from it all; and “The Lovers Chair” were you can disconnect from the world and connect with your loved one.
