Gallery: Nendo Unveils Collection of Sculptural Objects Made From Japan...

Tokyo-based Nendo has a lovely new collection of sculptural objects made from farming-net, an agricultural mesh ordinarily placed around fruit and vegetables to protect them from harm by wind and animals. Unveiled a few days ago, their ¨Farming-net Collection¨ consists of a series of modern bowls, plates and lights that seems to float in the air.

By heat-forming and shaping the agricultural nets, Nendo was able to create a wide variety of sculptural functional objects without the need of using a second structural material. The nets are stronger than organdy but more flexible than wire mesh, allowing Nendo to design all sorts of functional shapes. The flower vase and bowl wrap the air like a Japanese furoshiki and the lamps emit soft light like a paper lantern resulting in a series of Nihon-inspired designs that give people a special ” ! ” small moment in their everyday lives.
