The Nishorgo Oirabot Nature Interpretation Centre has achieved the
Aga Khan Award for Architecture and will continue to cherish the local environment while educating visitors within its eco-friendly walls.
Commissioned by the Ministry of Environment & Forests Bon Bhaban, the Nishorgo Oirabot Nature Interpretation Centre is a building designed and built within great care. In order to minimize the project’s environmental impact, Vitti Sthapati Brindo Ltd. architects decided that only structural walls would rest onto the ground. The elevated concrete structure allows trees to grow freely through its pierced ceiling, giving the impression that it is suspended high in the forest
