Gallery: 5 Super-Efficient Tiny New York Apartments

The apartment has a very DIY-feel, as Motl did everything himself, from building the counter/front-end table to covering the kitchen walls with planking. Motl bought the planking at Home Depot then stained it green and sealed it with a high-gloss marine varnish. (Photos by Robert Wright, see more at The New York Times)

Hello Sir, would you mind if i ask you a few questions on these topics please?

These are some fantastic apartments! It’s true, New Yorkers (and most residents of major cities) are incredibly resourceful and creative with their homes. I love how modern and upscale these options are. Creativity and design defiantly take a front seat here. It’s great how functional they are as well. Another great choice is a Zoom-Room or Zoom-Desk. Zoom-Room is a 21st century version of the Murphy Bed. It’s a remote controlled retractable Wall Bed that snakes up behind the cabinet instead of folding down, so you can put your flat screen TV or bookshelves in front. The Zoom-Room is customizeable with custom cabinets, home office accessories, finishes, and materials. It’s the best combination of function and design. Check it out

I wrote to you on July 12, 2012 wanting information on these micro apts. I want one and know the one I want. Are these already built or do I have to buy property? Not being so NYC saved, I have no idea where to start. Please respond.

These were great. GE + FirstBuild are actually seeking great ideas for Micro-Kitchens. If you know how you’d create a functional kitchen small enough for our big city apartments you should check it out..

I think there is a cash prize too!

I WANT ONE! I have been trying to move to NYC for almost 18 years. I just could never afford the rent and certainly could not afford to buy. I was LOOKING for a small space. These are perfect! I am disabled and I don’t need a large place to keep up with. How do I get on a list? I am serious.
