We came, we saw, and we wrote all about our favorite green designers at BKLYN Designs 2013, and after 3 days of voting and deliberating, we finally have our winners! This year's crop of locally grown but internationally known furniture, home and environmental designs were some of the most impressive yet, and more than half of the designers showed a commitment to using reclaimed or sustainable materials and processes in their work. It wasn't easy, but we've finally chosen one of these auspicious designs as the winner of our Inhabitat Green Design Editor's Choice Award, and you, the readers, have voiced your choice for the #1 popular vote pick - so read on to find out which two Brooklyn-based designers took home the top prizes!
Annnnnd the winners are...

  • Bower Brooklyn

READERS' CHOICE AWARD
We knew that we'd stumbled across something special when we visited the Bower booth, and we guess other BKLYN Designs-goers agreed because they voted the Williamsburg-based duo up to the #1 spot in our Readers' Choice competition. Danny Giannella and Tammer Hijazi's magnetic Polaris lamp scored points for being made of salvaged wood and also for its funky aesthetic and flexible design.

  • Garrison Architects Prefab Beach Buildings

EDITOR'S CHOICE AWARD - Garrison Architects
We have to admit that at first, we were surprised to see an architecture firm with a booth at a home furnishings show, but after learning more about Garrison Architects, we think their participation in BKLYN Designs makes perfect sense. The DUMBO-based firm really impressed us with their design and build-out of 37 new flood-proof, prefab beach buildings for Rockaway Beach, Coney Island, Midland Beach, Wolfe's Pond Park and Cedar Grove that will replace the ones destroyed by Hurricane Sandy. The structures were all created to be modular so that they could be completed in time for Memorial Day 2013, and they will also be net-zero energy.
