Gallery: MoMA PS1 Unveils New Courtyar...

This week, MoMA PS1 unveiled a winter weather friendly performance dome in their iconic courtyard. Known as one of the hottest spots for summer music parties and avant-garde installations, the PS1 courtyard will spend the next few months showcasing a series of artist performances and works inside the dome for a fresh seasonal program called “Sunday Sessions.”

Gifted from Volkswagen of America as part of a continuing partnership supporting exhibitions and education, the dome will be the centerpiece of the PS1 courtyard until May. “Sunday Sessions” will feature a wide array of artist projects concerning lights, sound, and music that utilize the unique geodesic space and relate to other select galleries in the former schoolhouse. The inaugural session this week presented by PS1, Pitchfork, and Clown and Sunset Aesthetics (CSA) included a five hour audio and video piece by filmmaker Ryan Staake, a movement piece by Lizzie Fieldson, and a special performance by musician Nicolas Jaar.
