Governors Island-goers will find Bike and Roll NYC‘s recycled shipping container kiosks in two locations. The main one is next to Castle William and there is also a smaller one across from the Brooklyn Ferry dock. The bright blue color of the renting stations makes them very hard to miss, and you’ll also see rows of bikes outside each one, waiting to be picked up by their temporary riders. Helmets and safety gear are also available.
Rental rates on the island start at just $20 for a 1/2 day for a regular bike but we recommend taking advantage of Bike and Roll’s Free Bike Mondays on all holiday Mondays, where they offer free one-hour bike rentals to the public. There is only one more of those left this season – Labor Day – so don’t miss out!
Bike and Roll will also be promoting a Frequent Visitor program this season with a progressive discount for a bike rental each time you visits the island. Every fifth visit is a free bike rental, so go often and tell them Inhabitat sent you!
