Headed to Summer Streets tomorrow? NY Waterways’ East River Ferry has sent us word that they’ll be waiving the $1 bicycle fee for those traveling to the summer festival this weekend and will also waive it on the following Summer Street Saturday: August 18. The City of New York and Billybey Ferry Company, which operates the service, recently announced the addition of 399-passenger boats on summer weekends, and the free ride is a great way for New Yorkers to discover the convenience of taking the ferry with their bikes as opposed to lugging them around the subway or driving them in a car.
For those traveling to Summer Streets you can easily access the route at two ferry locations: E. 34th or Wall Street/Pier 11. The ferry connects cyclists and others traveling from Long Island City, Greenpoint, North and South Williamsburg and DUMBO.
