Gallery: Tiny World Terrariums is a Step-by-Step Guide to Making Your O...

Readers will get a sense of how to choose a glass vessel and how to cultivate any different plant, including succulents and moss.

Michelle Inciarrano and Katy Maslow don’t just create any old terrariums, although these are challenging enough. Instead, they apply a little sense of humor and mischief to their miniature worlds. Examples of work included in the book are a desert oases with camels, a mad scientist lab inside a vintage beaker, and a beach side scene with sea glass and driftwood. In addition to photographs by Robert Wright, Katy and Michelle have included detailed instructions from how to choose a glass vessel to how to cultivate different miniature plants including moss and succulents.

The book will go on sale on May 1, 2012 and will cost $19,95 — you can preorder it here. While you’re waiting, check out their website and stay tuned for a special Twig DIY workshop, which the creative duo run out of their Brooklyn studio. We can’t wait to get our hands on what promises to be a very inspiring book so that we can start creating our own mini, green fantasy worlds!

Twig is celebrating the book’s release with a party at their Gowanus studios on April 13th from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. You can find all the details here.

What a wonderful idea! I’ll be sharing this page with my students. They are reading “The Secret Garden” and this site complements the story.
