The vertical ash panels and diagonal zinc slats on the exterior emphasize the home’s exciting origami shape, while the interior floors made of recycled timber gives it a warm and natural finish. All of the windows are double-glazed to control solar gain, while thermal massing on the southern end is amped up to further boost energy-efficiency. An outdoor storage system ensures that rainwater, which can be a scarce commodity in parts of Australia, is duly harvested and recycled. Although this is a luxury vacation lodge, great care has been taken to ensure that it sits in harmony with its serene landscape.
