Gallery: Paradise Lost But Found Again...
This reclaimed space defies categorization. While guerilla-ish, with its crumbling, overgrown ruins, it is also quite chic.
Long since abandoned, the paper factory has deteriorated from several years of disuse. Although there must have been some temptation to raze the existing structures to the ground and replace them with a newer, swankier building, the designers took a different approach.
Interbreeding Field opted instead to scatter a series of small installations throughout the ruins, which allow visitors to experience the setting’s unique poetry. Included are a coffee shop, lit up plastic seating, walkways, and a slatted gazebo, all of which combine to create a fresh, but still guerilla-ish natural setting.

An abandoned factory, the perfect place to congregate. If your a drug addict, gang banger, or prostitute. Don’t get me wrong, I’m sure it’s beautiful. Why not buy the property, tear down the factory and turn it into a park.

love this one.huge impact and minimal wastage of resources.even the existing crap old building is recycled in a way and not just torn down thrown away.
i would love to see if a concept this can work with residential houses or office buildings because you can not turn every piece of crap on the planet into a park landscape
Growing up in the US, while taking long road trips, I was always fascinated by abandoned farm houses. There is something beautiful in the way things fall apart, in decay. But it isn’t only decay! It’s rebirth, as well. I love it. Shilin Paper Factory is a very, very cool place.
