The Park(ing) Day project began in San Francisco in 2005 when art and design studio Rebar converted one parking space into a temporary public park. Since then the event has grown into an international phenomenon with participants in countries around the world. We love how this clever event challenges the concept of public space and reclaims lots reserved for parked cars in favor of parks that foster community – check out our gallery to see how people are celebrating Park(ing) day in a city near you!
