Gallery: Park(ing) Day 2012: Photos of...
Salt Lake City - The parklet is sponsored by Nexus Architectural, 21st & 21st Business District, Salt Lake City Transportation, Biograss, Pangea Ultima, ReBar and Progressive Plants, Inc.
Park(ing) Day began in San Francisco in 2005 when Rebar Studio converted a single parking space into a pop-up park. The idea is that as long as you feed the meter, the space is yours to use as you please. Since then the event has gained momentum and spread around the world – and today marks the 7th anniversary of the event.
Stay tuned as we bring you our favorite pop-up parks from 2012 – and if you’d like to share photos of a Park(ing) Day installation near you, simply send an email with a short description to editor [at] inhabitat.com!
Those Philly girls really know how to park it.
the action is not well publicized until after the fact. it’s a nice project, and gets notice, but it will fizz out if more advance notice isn’t given.
