Gallery: Human-Powered Sno-Cones at Ou...

This weekend, San Francisco hosts the major — and pricey — music festival Outside Lands in Golden Gate Park. The main attraction (besides the tunes)? Toyota and nonprofit Global Inheritance will give fans a chance to use some “sweat equity” to create energy on bikes and see-saws, earning as a reward a sno cone they’ve made with their own power. With the disappointingly corporate name of The Prius Playground, the fun-based micro-utility — running on a power storage system called Energy Well — is traveling to several major music festivals around the country, including Lollapalloza (pictured), Mile High, and New Orleans‘ Voodoo Fest.

Organizers say they expect at least one major celeb to make his own sno cone at Outside Lands, so if yummy treats and green energy aren’t enough to get you to invest your sweat equity, maybe star-gazing will.
