Project Orange revamped an old Victorian building in
Sheffield, England, transforming it into a spacious restaurant and bar that celebrates the structure's
original industrial nature. 192 Shoreham Street takes advantage of the existing features of the building while elevating the ceilings skywards on a site located at the edge of the city's Cultural Industries Quarter Conservation Area.
Extending the building upwards, duplex studio office units have been installed to replace the original pitched roof. Modern and abstract, the new shape of the roof adds a dynamic form to the immediate skyline.
With this remodeling project the UK-based design team aimed to not only enhance the existing building but to create an attention-grabbing monument to the city’s heritage. They hoped 192 Shoreham Street could bring together the past and future of the city under one roof, becoming a landmark for the local community.
