The solar energy designers at Rawlemon have created a spherical, sun-tracking glass globe that is able to concentrate sunlight (and moonlight) up to 10,000 times. The company claims that its ß.torics system is 35% more efficient than traditional dual-axis photovoltaic designs, and the fully rotational, weatherproof sphere is even capable of harvesting electricity from moonlight.
The ß.torics system was invented by Barcelona-based German Architect André Broessel. He sought to create a solar system that could be embedded in the walls of buildings so that they may act as both windows and energy generators. But the project isn’t only noteworthy for its solar efficiency capabilities - the ß.torics system is designed to generate lunar energy too!
The spheres are able to concentrate diffused moonlight into a steady source of energy. The futuristic ß.torics system is catching a lot of attention for its clean and beautiful design. (Despite solar power’s huge potential, we haven’t seen too many beautiful solar power technologies). We’re excited to see how architects will incorporate these energy generating orbs into alternative energy agendas and future building designs!

Becca, you made me laugh because I had the exact same thought! I’d love one of these. I live off-grid.
How much does it wiegh? the idea is brilliant.
I want one in my backyard please!
this fits a community project I\’m looking into providing workshops on. Every home in the world that has a roof or windows that wants power should have solar of some sort on it, in it or near it.
Is it solid glass, water filled or air filled? Weight? If filled with glass or water it would be very heavy…
This is awesome and the designer is pretty hot too.
The cost, in money, time, and effort, to make the glass sphere alone makes me question the cost effectiveness of something like this. Something you could compare it to in difficulty is a giant telescope. When you start having curved glass at that size you run the major risk of it cracking or warming under its own weight, and when the smallest warp ruins its effectiveness to focus light you have to handle with extreme care. To me it appears that the only thing changing on this compared to conventional solar panels is that the sphere is able to focus the sun more effectively, 35% apparently. But if it costs 200% more than people on a budget will almost always opt for the 3 panels that together will generate more power, than the lone sphere. This being said it may not be made out of glass at all. And if it is they may be looking into alternative materials to lower the cost.
I wonder what the biggest size is that you could make one of these that should replace that stupid silver bean in Chicago.
still need to be careful with birds they might run into the glass lol
Hey Tony Stark called he wants his Incredibleness back
COngratulations Andre and Team! KUDOS on the great invention and thank God you are bringing this forward
I am interested to know how to get one of those in Colombia
Keep me posted

Loads of love and blessings and may you continue bringing awesome technology to this planet!
This is great! Would make an epic solar steam engine! Have you looked into this potential?
reminds me of the crystal sculls put it in the pyramids and see what happens. make one out of crystal next.
Hi Bro,
Can U give us the estimation
Dear Bro it’s beautiful!!!! different technology and Amazing! glass globe 2012 Bill Gates……from johnphilips India (solar power plant providers)
Would very much appreciate the opportunity to learn more about the system if you are in a possion to share with an NDA/NCND in place.
We are preparing to do a project in PR; would you consider allowing for Distributorship or License?
How much???
OH MY GOOOODDD that is beautiful!!!! TELL ME WHERE TO GET ONE!!!
TY TY TY!!!
Holly Dawn Hewlett
Could this technology be used to heat my pool and spa
Is this a different technology than solar technology or a more powerful version in a prettier form? From someone who doesn’t know the difference.
wonderful invention. Bro keep it up.Feature really need your help.
thanks

Wow… this is exciting … seems beautifully artistic/pleasing to the eye and psyche (calming) standing alone or incorporated into a structure.
Amazing! How would someone get in touch with the maker of these, and get a quote? Or, are they even available to the public yet!?
I’d like to know the costs of one of these for a residential backyard for onee who would like to get off the grid. Is there a practical use for the residential use?
How about using small marble-size water filled glass bubbles for anyone to use?
