Gallery: DMFD’s Amazing Curved Chaise Lounge is Made From 100% Recycled...

As the material is incredibly lightweight the chair is simultaneously stable yet rocks gently from side to side.

Get comfy on an elegant Cortiça chaise lounge and let your worries melt away. This brilliant piece of sustainable furniture comes from design studio DMFD, and uses cork waste taken from the bottle stopper industry. The Brooklyn-based design team created the sustainable lounge chair as a curved design mimicking a wave. The design is freestanding and balanced on the curve of its base. As the material is lightweight, the chair is both stable and bouyant, and can be rocked gently from side to side.

As part of the complete chaise lounge series, the cork chair joins the likes of the plant-friendly Lawn Chaise, where the user beds down in the grass. The three-dimensional cork construction offers a slightly cleaner seat, as well as an environmentally responsible alternative to a trendy plush lounge — and just imagine how bottle corks were saved!
