The Backyard HouseWe here at Inhabitat love <a href="http://inhabitat.com/micro-house-in-tokyo-built-on-a-single-car-space/">micro structures</a>, so when we caught a glimpse of Megan Lea's <a href="http://www.riseoverrun.biz/the-backyard-house.html">Backyard House</a>, we were immediately enamored. Modern with right amount of rustic flavor, the striking home was built out of recycled barnboard with copper roofing. Featuring a raw finish with just a touch of color, the small space blends perfectly within Lea's lush and <a href="http://inhabitat.com/grow-a-lush-green-garden-inside-your-furniture-with-furnibloom/">green garden</a>.1
The Backyard HouseAfter years of <a href="http://www.inhabitots.com/how-to-start-a-family-vegetable-garden-this-spring/">building up her garden</a>, Lea was satisfied with her efforts, but it was a small corner within her yard in which she had tried to grow a veggies that left her feeling discontent.2
The Backyard HouseGiven the excess shade in that particular spot, her tomatoes and cucumbers faired poorly.3
The Backyard HouseTo make better use of the space, Lea, a certified sustainable building advisor, decided to construct a detached home in the 11'X14' patch of ground.4
