Droog Gives Liquidated Products New Life at Milan Design Week

    XX Chair by Luc d 'Hanis + Sofie Lachaert <p> Dutch design collective <a href="http://www.droog.com/">Droog</a> broke some bad news at this year's <a href="http://inhabitat.com/milan-furniture-fair/">Milan Furniture Fair</a>: around <b>500</b> dutch companies go bankrupt every month. The good news is Droog has saved <b>5139</b> of their products from liquidation sales to be used as raw material for new products. The exhibition showcased creative re-interpretations of found products by 14 designers from different parts of the world.

    Ed Annink created a fairytale narrative for a set of silverware where Onno, the spoon sometimes becomes a candle holder, Ed, the knife transforms into a little mirror for the eyes, Ms. Teaspoon, the little spoon becomes an icon for tools, and the King of Gold is a fork with golden teeth.

    Marian Bantjes inscribed an old table to say: "Get up from this table and go make a contribution to Doctors Without Borders. Donate enough that it hurts a little. Then come back to this table and enjoy your meal. Really, really enjoy your meal."
