Gallery: Seo Young Deok’s Larger...
His pieces show anguish, worry, struggle - all in the industrial context
Deok is particularly interested to portray the modern human’s plight in the context of industrialization. His larger-than-life nude sculptures, painstakingly welded out of used chains, portray sometimes broken, often people, using a material that exemplifies our mechanized world. Taking inspiration from the British artist Anthony Gormley, Deok has personified our struggles in the most beautiful way we have ever seen.
