Gallery: Shell.ter is a Funky Pergola Tunnel Made From 84 Ordinary Plas...

People were encouraged to view an old, ordinary material anew

Instead of inviting people to come to the park and sit on plastic chairs, Shell.ter encourages a whole new association – a funky pergola tunnel that is tall enough to play under. Visitors can lean against it, eschew it altogether for a dip in the nearby river, or simply enjoy the fantastic play of light as the sun’s rays hit the arch.

Albeit not the most earth-shattering design we have showcased on our site, there is value in looking at old materials anew, and in creating temporary, recyclable pavilions that have zero environmental impact. Next year the project, which has dimensions of 5,70m x 4m x 2,75m, can be re-assembled for further outdoor fun.
