Flat Iron Building-Rosenbergs ArkitekterWedged in between the main train station and Torsgatan street in Stockholm is the Flat Iron Building, a concrete office building built by Skanska. The project was designed by Rosenbergs Arkitekter and was named after the original Flatiron wedge-shaped building in New York City. Unlike its NYC-inspiration, the Stockholm building is made from precast concrete and has a LEED Gold certification. The office building is close to transportation, provides a healthy and eco-friendly working environment and acts as a barrier between the industrial train yards and quieter residences on the other side.1

Flat Iron Building-Rosenbergs ArkitekterConcrete was chosen due to the short construction time and its ability to form a solid mass.4
Flat Iron Building-Rosenbergs ArkitekterThis doubles as both thermal mass to slow the transfer of hot and cold making the building more efficient and the mass also acts as a sound barrier between quiet residential buildings and the noisy train yard.5
