A husband and wife team from the UK are the brains behind Swifty Scooters – a range of adult kick scooters that, through innovative design, “demonstrates a 21st century relevance to urban mobility, answering the need to save time and have fun.” Jason and Camilla Iftakhar, who are both graduates of the Royal College of Art, work together to design and hand-craft the scooters, whose parts are even locally sourced. The scooters are also designed to be ultra-slim and, when required, fold up so they can be carried onto public transport or stored away.
SwiftyONE is the company’s leading premium and contemporary folding kick scooter designed for adults. Smooth to ride and, at 7.5kg, simple to lift, it is a clean, green answer to the hustle and bustle of commuting in the city.
Product and eco-designer Jason Iftakhar is the original creator of the folding scooter, SwiftyONE. He presented an early edition of the scooter at 100% Design London 2009, having built the working prototype by hand. Following that success, Jason set up Swifty Scooters in order to continue feeding his passion for sustainable products and the great outdoors. Jason’s wife Camilla also has a design background having created sports and lifestyle apparel for leading sportswear companies such as Puma, Umbro and Mountain Equipment. As such, she designs Swifty Scooters Accessories and Apparel.
While the husband and wife team are currently based in Manchester, Swifty Scooters is expanding rapidly and has secured international distribution in London, Paris, Barcelona, and Singapore, with cutting edge retailers such as The Conran Store London, Paul Smith and Merci Paris.
