It is assembled off-site to reduce costs and construction waste

Alan Dawson had a dream to provide energy-efficient, low-carbon prefabricated housing that is also affordable. With significant support from his local council and a variety of materials and construction experts, he finally completed the first eco-friendly Adaptahaus for £300,000. Although these days you can build a decent house for less, this is a fairly reasonable cost in the UK that will probably be reduced as demand increases. The recipient of the Best Technical Innovation award from LABC, the Adaptahaus in West Cumbria is clad in sustainably-sourced Larch and Green Oak timber, and has superior insulation. This home’s energy consumption and overall carbon footprint are so low that it achieved level 4 from the Code for Sustainable Homes.
