In order to preserve the massive quantities of resources used to create two concrete Lancashire water tanks, Bishopsrock Properties commissioned a design to transform them into homes. Manchester-based Ian Simpson Architects rose to the challenge with these beautiful green-roofed country homes that not only have an impressively low carbon footrpint, but also promote biodiversity in Barnacre-with-bonds, near Garstang in North Lancashire.

    Imagination is more important than knowledge [thanks, Albert] and this project demonstrates it so well.
    Plenty of application opportunities in Australia too.
    Now I’m on the lookout for old water tanks…..
