Energy will be derived from photovoltaic panels and heat from a ground source system.

The rolling green roofs are comprised of native grasses that insulate the building and ensure that it fits unobtrusively within the rest of the site. Roof lights keep the building well-lit during the day, while evening electricity needs are provided by photovoltaic panels. Ground sources will heat the home, which will derive much of its energy efficiency from superior insulation.

The now-defunct water tanks (which are in excellent condition) will be transformed into two contemporary country homes designed to promote tourism and boost the local economy. With fully glazed front elements, neither the six bedroom house nor the two bedroom cottage will experience excess solar gain. This stunning and deeply sustainable design is well on its way to becoming a lovely, rolling green reality.

Imagination is more important than knowledge [thanks, Albert] and this project demonstrates it so well.
Plenty of application opportunities in Australia too.
Now I’m on the lookout for old water tanks…..
