Gallery: Tiny Meditation Pavilion Sits Ever-So-Quietly Amidst Vermont’s...

This gorgeous Meditation Pavilion is situated amidst Vermont's gorgeous Green Mountains

It’s hard to imagine a more perfect site to build a meditation structure than among mountains, loose stone walls, forest, wildflowers, and woodland paths. And just because it’s small doesn’t mean that the designers compromised on comfort. Instead, the curved, mortar-washed brick wall home has a wood-framed roof that very efficiently shelters its inhabitants from Vermont’s edgy winters. The striking Rumford fireplace brings an additional element of coziness to the space.

Not only is the construction itself blissfully minimalist, but the interior has been equipped with bare but attractive essentials. A built-in bench made of cedar wood wraps around the pavilion’s entire interior perimeter and is adorned with a series of fluffy pillows. Coleman says, “this building is intended to create a sensorial experience that lifts the spirit and transcends the mundane, resulting in a stillness that is at once poetic and exhilarating.” We definitely think it succeeds.
