Tiny prefab Shepherd Hut is a picturesque time portal to the 19th century

If you dream of owning an old-timey, picturesque cabin, but can’t commit to living <a href="http://inhabitat.com/tag/off-grid/" target="_blank">off-grid</a> just yet, consider this happy middle ground designed by Canadian company <a href="http://gute.ca" target="_blank">Güte</a>. Introducing the Shepherd Hut, a <a href="http://inhabitat.com/tag/tiny-homes/" target="_blank">tiny mobile home</a> built in a style reminiscent of northern England’s late 19th century sheepherding homes. Designed to be used as a guesthouse or backyard office, the adorable country-style hut is custom-built to order and can be hooked up to the electric grid or operated off-grid.

The design team installed cast iron wheels instead of regular tube tires, and has included antique touches like a brass Welsh miner’s lamp and hand-pumped solid brass sink.

High-quality hardwoods were also used throughout the home, from the Dutch-style doors to the siding and floor.

Made to last the test of time, the sturdy mobile home can even weather the harsh Canadian winters.

Custom built from the wheels up, the Shepherd Hut has a starting price of around $29,146, with options for add-ons such as a PV array and composting toilet.

Inside the home, clients can pick from a variety of modular, space-saving furniture pieces, choose the materials, and specify the size and layout.

The Shepherd Hut’s old-fashioned look was achieved through Güte’s careful attention to detail and handmade furnishings.
