Dutch designers Rikkert Paauw and Jet van Zwieten of Foundation Projects fill up trash skips with found materials and convert them into tiny urban meeting spots. First presented at Vienna Design Week 2010 and then again at the Milan Public Festival in 2011, these funky recycled structures finally made their way to their home country in April this year, forming the central hub of a mini festival at Utrecht's Neude Center Square.

The skips are deposited in central locations and then filled up with wood, wire, and other recycled materials either found in the local environment or donated by community members. Then, within a week, these materials are transformed into sweet little buildings, with the heavy skips forming their foundation, that are equipped with a built-in bar.

Once complete, the community is invited to meet at the recycled receptacles turned into hyper-local coffee shops or street bars. This year, the Straatlokaal project in the Netherlands featured three such funky structures that in turn comprised the central hub of a small festival in the the heart of Utrecht.
