  • Tribe Studio's ecologically sustainable ceiling installation
What would you create if your design brief was to craft an artistic installation that would not only be festive and playful, but also encourage dialogue on sustainability? The creative team at Tribe Studiotransformed an open and cavernous warehouse into a warm and inviting space as part of the Sydney Eat Green Design festival, an event exploring sustainable practice in design. Through a spectacular ceiling installation, whimsical laser cut spirals hang like stalactites from sheets of Australian hoop ply, which in turn are suspended on a recycled steel frame and rigging. While the event has ended, this piece continues to inspire – art and functionality fuse as the design can be turned into wall art, trivets, Christmas trees and table lamps. It comes as no surprise that it's already been snapped up by an enterprising restauranteur!
