The landscape designers chosen different kinds of species for the two walls given that they experience varying exposure to the sun. The two-storey storefront vertical garden features mostly ferns and begonias, while the outside wall, which is exposed to sunlight at the top but shaded at the bottom, was fitted with Mediterranean species such as Lavandula, Rosmarinus, and Artemisia that are accustomed to the heat. Both, however, mimic nature’s own vertical gardens: the plants and trees that sprout up near waterfalls, and have been designed to grow mostly wild and free.
