Meditation Pavilion and Garden by GMAAWrapped in a layer of mist it created itself, this meditation pavilion near Geneva looks like a perfect place to relax and reconnect with nature. Designed by <a href="http://www.gmarchitectes.com/" target="_blank">GM Architectes Associés</a>, the building is a simple, symmetrical structure that augments the calming atmosphere of the place and highlights the changing seasons. The project, built for a private residence in 2013, has won his year’s <a href="http://architizer.com/" target="_blank">Architizer</a> A+Award in the Private House category.1
Meditation Pavilion and Garden by GMAAThe Meditation Pavilion and Garden were designed to cultivate a tranquil atmosphere and harness the calming potential of water.2
Meditation Pavilion and Garden by GMAAThe enclosed volume spreads from bank to bank and draws the water inside to blur the line between the interior and exterior space.3
Meditation Pavilion and Garden by GMAAIt houses changing rooms and a bathroom at the west end, and a summer kitchen and storage at the opposite side.4
Meditation Pavilion and Garden by GMAAThe steel-framed structure features movable partitions that slide to open and close the middle part of the pavilion.5
Meditation Pavilion and Garden by GMAAMost of the exterior is defined by vertical ash wood slats that make the volume seem permeable.6
Meditation Pavilion and Garden by GMAASkylights add natural light to the interior and partly illuminate the water.7
