Visit the LEED Gold Lorry Graduate School of Business on the 2012 Greenbuild Conference Tour

    <a href="http://www.bcj.com/public/home.html">Bohlin Cywinski Jackson’s</a> <a href="http://www.bcj.com/public/projects/project/94.html">Lorry I. Lokey Graduate School of Business</a> has been selected as one of the 2012 Green Building Tours to be held this November in San Francisco at the annual <a href="http://www.greenbuildexpo.org/Home.aspx">Greenbuild Conference &amp; Expo</a>. The Lokey Graduate School of Business will be one of the three buildings in the half-day tour, which highlights the legacy of green campus development at Mills College in Oakland, California. Lokey Grauate School of Business is the first LEED Gold business school in California, and is an excellent example of cutting edge green building strategies.

    The building's L-shaped plan is oriented to the southwest to optimize sun exposure, and this orientation creates a campus lawn at the intersection of the two main raids of campus.

    The circulation inside the building glows at night through the floor to ceiling glazing.

    The building optimized daylighting in order to minimize energy consumption through lighting. Sun shading helps to keep glare and unnecessary solar gain low.

    The entry to the building is light and airy with a wonderful open staircase to the second floor.

    The staircase from the entry lobby takes visitors and students to the second floor offices and MBA suites, which overlook the living roof.

    The interior spaces are made up of lecture halls, classrooms, and offices. This lecture hall uses an interesting daylighting technique to provide indirect daylight through side windows to reduce glare on presenters and their presentations.

    The exterior porch is a place for gathering and circulation.The architecture of the building can be appreciated from benches placed intermittently under the cover of the porch roof.
