We've been following the construction progress on Bosco Verticale, the world's first vertical forest, which is currently rising in Milan. Now, it appears that the vertical forest trend is catching on in Vietnam, albeit on a much smaller scale. Vo Trong Nghia Architects has unveiled a proposal to build the Trees Building, an eight-story office building in Da Nang, Vietnam that would feature terraced setbacks in the facade with trees climbing up the side of the building.

The Trees Building will be a branch office of ABBANK, and it promises to be one of the most striking new buildings in Danang.

Because of the terraced system, Vo Trong Nghia will be able to fit at least 150 percent more trees into the facade of the building than would be able to grow on a comparable piece of flat land.

The trees will be framed by the building's windows, with one tree standing in front of each large window.

The building's facade will feature rows of double-height columns, which will serve both as load-bearing columns, and they'll also provide a place in which to plant large trees.

The trees are more visible to visitors than if they were only located on the roof.

The building hasn't been built yet, but construction is expected to begin later this year.
