EXCLUSIVE PHOTOS: Volkswagen Reveals Its Secret E-Bugster Electric Beetle Concept at the Detroit Auto Show

    One of the most anticipated reveals coming out of the <a href="http://inhabitat.com/category/detroit-auto-show-2/">Detroit Auto Show</a> was Volkswagen's newest concept EV, <a href="http://inhabitat.com/volkswagen-will-reveal-a-new-electric-concept-car-at-the-detroit-auto-show/">which was rumored to be Beetle-inspired</a>, and the cat is now out of the bag! We were on the scene this morning as the new electric VW Beetle design - called the E-Bugster - was officially revealed and while its curvy top is definitely reminiscent of the Bug (er Beetle),  it's got a slightly more svelte shape that gives it extra sex appeal.     According to <a href="http://www.vw.com/">Volkswagen</a>, the new E-Bugster concept sports an 114-horsepower (85 kW) <a href="http://inhabitat.com/index.php?s=electric+motor">electric motor</a> and 695-pound lithium-ion battery, which when combined boasts a 100-mile driving range.

    The car will also be able to charge in a number of different ways.

    One way the E-Bug will be able to charge is via a Level 3 quick charger that can juice the battery up to 80 percent in about half an hour.
