Give your next afternoon tea party or picnic at the park an elegant Japanese twist with Wasara‘s biodegradable tableware. Designed to be fully compostable, the line eliminates the need to wash up after the party, throw away lots of plastic packaging, or carry heavy dishes back home after a sunny al fresco event. Conceived by top Japanese creative director Shinichiro Ogata, these sets of cups and plates are made of a new mix of tree-free biodegradable composite materials: bamboo, reed pulp and bagasse (an agricultural waste byproduct).

Wasara tableware replaces plastic and wood pulp disposables while bringing an ephemeral beauty to your table by accentuating every dish you serve. In practical terms, they’re suitable for cold or hot foods, oil and water-resistant, can be stored in the fridge, and are microwave-safe. They fit comfortably in the hand, providing an elegant texture and sturdy quality that is unique in the field. Wasara tableware is responsibly manufactured near the source of its raw materials at an ISO 9001 & 14001 certified factory.

The company is currently in talks to develop sustainable tableware solutions for airlines and cruise ships, and they have been honored with many awards including the Good Design Award, the All Design Awards and the Asian Award.
