Gallery: West Coast Central Park is a ...

Michael Maltzen Architects collaborated with landscape architect James Burnett to design the park as part of the mixed use Playa Vista development. While the space is currently bordered by vacant land, a new business district is currently in the works and eventually, employees will be able to enjoy Central Park on their lunch breaks.

Seen from above, the geometric swathes of planted green land resemble a verdant patchwork quilt. The diagonal bands that break up the landscape are actually pathways for pedestrians to walk, but they also contain basketball courts, seating areas, playgrounds and other little compartments of fun for visitors to stumble upon. The park also features a series of stillwater ponds and pools that play an active role in groundwater remediation in addition to adding a cooling, soothing element to the space for visitors to enjoy.
