X Marks the Spot at the Striking Naturally Daylit NEO Bankside Residences in London

The striking exteriors of the five steel and glass pavilions feature distinctive X-marks that help to provide structural strength. This leaves the interiors open, flexible and filled with natural daylight. Lush and native gardens designed by <a href="http://www.gillespies.co.uk/" target="_blank">Gillespies</a> at the street level bring a much needed dose of nature into the city.

<a href="http://www.neobankside.com/" target="_blank">NEO Bankside</a> is located directly south of the Tate Modern and features four buildings with 217 residences and a six-story office block.

The hexagonal buildings have a distinctive external cross-bracing system, which removes the need for internal structural walls and creates a very flexible and open interior.

Glazed elevator towers on the exterior provide residents and visitors views of London on their ride up or down.

The apartments all enjoy a high level of natural daylighting with sun protection provided with louvered panels in key locations.

A simple palette of steel, glass and wood help place the project within the Bankside area. The project also enjoys a private gym, wine cellar, underground parking, and a concierge service.

Single-glazed balconies, or Winter Gardens at the north and south ends of each building are connected to the residences with large sliding doors and expand living space outdoors.

Residents and visitors of NEO Bankside also enjoy an expansive garden not typically enjoyed in a dense urban location.

Beehives, and orchard of fruit trees, an herb garden and a variety of landscaped space infuse the area with nature.

Even within the constrained footprint, native plants create a high level of biodiversity.
