X-Studio’s Lightweave Palm Observatory is Made Entirely From Palm Leaves

The project was created using the palm leaf of the coconut trees found along the island to create a unique observatory that plays with the dialogue between the interior and the exterior.

    The weave creates a play of light that is evident from inside or outside and that changes throughout the day.

    Light filters in through the woven leaves, creating a lattice of beams and shadows during the day and appearing to be lit from within at sunset.

    "For me every project has always been a constant search, I don't have a predetermined system or repeat a former project, but in each new project I want to be able to discover and experiment new possibilities," says Juarez.

    The project is located on Itaparica Island, Bahia de Todos os Santos, or All Saints Bay in Brazil.

    X-Studio has also created Dream Houses, which are urban spaces for reflection and Il Pesto, a restaurant in Mexico created with vegetal exterior and interior walls.
