Gallery: Radiant Yhi Pendant Lamps Inspired by Aborigine Sun Goddess

These beautiful Yhi pendant lamps by Brian Steendyk benefit from a brilliant flat-pack design that saves on shipping costs while cutting down on carbon emissions. One of our favorite designs from the Matilda Exhibition at the 2010 London Design Festival, the lamps capture the spirit of aboriginal culture with their sculpted forms made from 100% recyclable plantation-harvested plywood.

Brian Steendyk is passionate about promoting ideals of sustainability in every aspect of his work as an urban designer, architect, product designer, and interior designer. The sculptural qualities of his designs provides a well-crafted aesthetic to accompany each piece’s functionality. Named after the aboriginal sun goddess, these Yhi lamps emphasize the importance of electrical energy in lighting up our lives.
