Inhabitat Reports from Designers & Agents Green Room 2010!

Last week fashion trade show <a href="http://www.ecouterre.com/17156/reporting-live-from-the-designers-agents-green-room-last-day/">Designers &amp; Agents </a>returned to <a href="http://www.inhabitat.com/nyc">New York City </a>. An international marketplace featuring clothing and accessories from more than 1,000 independent designers, this event was on every buyer's and fashionistas' e-calendar. But it was the <a href="http://www.ecouterre.com/17156/reporting-live-from-the-designers-agents-green-room-last-day/">D&amp;A Green Room </a>(curated by our eco fashion website <a href="http://www.ecouterre.com">Ecouterre</a>!) that really got us up in green -- in green clothes that is! Never one to miss a chance to promote eco-friendly fashion, our Inhabitorial team was on-site bringing live coverage from the event. This year's <a href="http://www.inhabitat.com/2009/04/29/inhabitat-reports-from-da-next-week/">Designers &amp; Agents Green Room</a> was chockfull of serious design talent, and was -- we venture to say -- our favorite D&amp;A yet. <a href="http://www.ecouterre.com/12572/samantha-pleets-dream-like-fallwinter-2010-lin-exudes-whimsy-charm/">Samantha Pleet</a>, designer of her eponymous line of sustainably produced clothing, which is made locally in New York City.

Here, <a href="http://www.ecouterre.com/author/jill/">editor-in-chief Jill</a> dons <a href="http://www.ecouterre.com/12572/samantha-pleets-dream-like-fallwinter-2010-lin-exudes-whimsy-charm/">Samantha Pleet's Plaid Kilt Romper </a> - "I love how fun and cute this romper is - it's half punk rock and half girly-girly. I've never been a huge fan of plaid but this jumper makes me see plaid in a whole new light.

Caitlin Murphy, who handles sales and marketing at <a href="http://www.ecouterre.com/1391/nau-fills-in-the-mens-eco-fashion-void-with-crisp-basics-every-guy-can-appreciate/">NAU</a>, with some of the greenest performance apparel we've seen to date.

<a href="http://inhabitat.com/author/kristi-bernick/">Kristi Bernick</a> from Inhabitat is a fan of <a href="http://www.ecouterre.com/1391/nau-fills-in-the-mens-eco-fashion-void-with-crisp-basics-every-guy-can-appreciate/">Nau's</a> <a href="http://www.nau.com/womens/categories/jackets/asylum-jacket-307W205.html">Asylum Jacket</a>.

Shannon South, designer and owner of the <a href="http://www.ecouterre.com/6787/remade-usa-upcycles-leather-jackets-into-one-of-a-kind-bags/">reMade USA</a> line of recycled leather bags, is moving her operations back to New York City after a brief foray in San Francisco.

You can't help but be swept up in designer <a href="http://www.ecouterre.com/13960/kizzy-jai-knights-eco-fashion-spinoff-is-effortlessly-elegant-for-fall-2010/">Kizzy Jai Knight's</a> ebullience and zest. She handed out handmade heart-shape felt buttons to remind us that everything we needed is "right here."

"This dress is not only sassy, well tailored and elegant but it is extremely comfortable. I felt so great wearing it I think I might have to head over to Jai to pick one up to take home with me!" Brit Liggett, Video Producer at Ecouterre wearing the Sunningdale Classic from Jai.

Yuka Yoneda, our senior editor, strikes a pose in the Lady Ascot Dress by <a href="http://www.ecouterre.com/13960/kizzy-jai-knights-eco-fashion-spinoff-is-effortlessly-elegant-for-fall-2010/">Jai</a>. Made from <a href="http://www.ecouterre.com/4929/o-wool-certified-organic-wool-for-the-eco-fashion-flock/">organic wool</a> from Vermont, the frock was inspired by designer Kizzy Jai Knight's hometown in England. Yuka: "Even though this dress looks fancy with its elegant drapes, it's incredibly comfy and perfect for a night out dancing, which totally makes sense since Kizzy comes from a dance background and Jai's underlying philosophy is to be 'playfully regal.'

Talk about statement jewelry! This head-turner by <a href="http://www.ecouterre.com/16711/10-eco-fashion-designers-showing-at-the-designers-agents-green-room/kife-collection/?extend=1">KIFE Collection</a> is part <a href="http://www.ecouterre.com/324/6-eco-friendly-bib-necklaces-to-help-you-make-falls-boldest-statement/">bib necklace</a>, part body armor. You "wear" it by slipping the two ends over your arms, like sleeves

Our attention was repeatedly drawn to <a href="http://www.ecouterre.com/16711/10-eco-fashion-designers-showing-at-the-designers-agents-green-room/hfredriksson/?extend=1">H Fredriksson's</a> V-neck caftan (middle), which features a spectacular, abstract print that is nothing short of hypnotic.

Also one of Jill’s picks: "I'm not much of a print person, but <a href="http://www.ecouterre.com/16711/10-eco-fashion-designers-showing-at-the-designers-agents-green-room/hfredriksson/?extend=1">H Fredriksson's</a> makes amazing prints," she says. "As soon as I saw this flowy silk top I had to try it on. I can't get over how cool this geometric, mirrored black and white print is—I love it!"

Polly Bäumler started <a href="http://www.ecouterre.com/16711/10-eco-fashion-designers-showing-at-the-designers-agents-green-room/des-artistes/?extend=1">Des Artistes</a> just last year, but she's set her sights on adorning her organic cotton tees with the work of both emerging and established artists.

<a href="http://www.ecouterre.com/16711/10-eco-fashion-designers-showing-at-the-designers-agents-green-room/me-barbara-brignone/?extend=1">Barbara Brignone's</a> self-titled collection exudes Old World charm, with lacy, slinky separates that are as at home inside the boudoir as out.
