Superstar Architects Team Up To Design BOOM, a Sprawling Desert Eco Community

What do you get when you bring 10 superstar architects together with a large empty plot? A crazy and sustainable community with 8 unique neighborhoods, shopping, night clubs, a boutique hotel and a whole lot more. BOOM Communities is a master planned community located outside of Palm Springs and will include the Inhabitat favorites <a href="http://inhabitat.com/diller-scofidio-renfros-lincoln-center-grassy-remodel-opens-to-public/" target="_blank">Diller Scofidio + Renfro</a>, <a href="http://inhabitat.com/lot-eks-shipping-container-art-school-opens-in-south-korea/" target="_blank">LOT-EK</a> and <a href="http://inhabitat.com/gigantic-parasols-rise-to-shield-seville-from-sun/" target="_blank">J Mayer H</a>. We haven't seen this much of a mix and match of visions and ideas since Epcot, but we can't wait to see it happen.

BOOM Communities is expected to begin construction in 2012 and will cost an estimated $250 million.

Each of the 10 architects designed one neighborhood or section of the 100 acre community.

The eco community will also include a number of different recreational and entertainment spaces, dispersed throughout.
