Bangkok’s Mega Park reimagines mega-malls as green community hubs

Architectkidd has added a new Mega Park next to the Megabangna shopping mall in Bangkok.

The new park connects the mega-mall to an upcoming mixed-use development.

A winding red path weaves around native plants meant to attract pollinators.

The project includes a treetop walk, a nature walk and an amphitheater.

Universal design ramps create a seamless transition between the skywalk and ground-level pathway.

The design is meant to encourage mall visitors to enjoy the outdoors.

The steel columns can also support vertical vegetation.

The architects said the design "brings a vision of change to the shopping center model as well as an opportunity to experiment with new approaches that combine the commercial with community and the public."

The park connects to the mall through an elevated steel pathway.
